Top 12 eBay Selling Strategies

1. The $0.99 Listing – I have experienced that starting a listing at $0.99 with no reserve price attracts more potential buyers with the opportunity to earn maximum profits. There has been a time when I lose money on these listings, but almost always make up for it on the traffic it brings to my store.

2. Be Sure To Ship Internationally – Shipping internationally brings you thousands of potential buyers. Be sure to quote a higher shipping fee for those international customers.

3. Give 5 Star Customer Service – Be sure to make yourself stand out from the hundreds of other eBay sellers. Make sure you give your buyers a shopping experience that stays fresh in their mind. You want them searching for you when they first log on to eBay. It’s the repeat business that will really make your business thrive.

4. Don’t List The Retail Value – Whenever I’ve listed the retail value of an item, it seemed to sell for much less then it should have. I believe this may discourages buyers from bidding.

5. Second Chance Offers – If you have the opportunity to make a second chance offer take it. You can offer this if the winning bidder does not follow through with the sale or if you have more then one of the same things to a non-winning high bidder.

6. List Items In Multiple Categories To Reach More Viewers – Try to list in a few different categories each time. For example, have a listing in girls, boys, accessories and even maternity to reach those new Mommies to be.

7. Buy Duplicates If Possible – I try to buy as many of the same thing as possible because it saves me time. If I have duplicate items it results in fewer pictures and less descriptions needed.

8. Keep Your Title Simple And In Capitals – Make the entire title of your listing in capitals letters using brand, style, size and line if possible. For example, NWT GYMBOREE GIRLS CLOTHES CHERRY BABY DRESS 4

9. Advertise In Feedback – In capital letters use your user name and the item they purchased from you. For example, “THANKS FOR BUYING GYBOREE WITH GYMBO BOUTIQUE!”

10. Clear Pictures – There are many items that go unnoticed due to the picture being unclear or hard to see. Always have a picture with your listing and make sure it is clear.

11. The 10 Day Auction – Using this listing tool starting on Friday your auction will circulate through two full weekends and end on a Monday. This works especially well when you have a large lot or an item in high demand.

12. Sell In Season – Always sell your items during the season the item will be used. A winter coat for example probably will sell much better in November then in mid July.
